* Fascinating World Of Gems And Its Miracles |
Fascinating World of Gems and its Miracles By Pandit Promod K. Nandkishore Sharma : Astrologer, Palmist, Gemmologist and Vastu consultant
Gems have been in existence since the creation of the Earth. Gems are mentioned in the ancient Indian texts - the Vedas and the Puranas. There is mention of a gem called Kaustubha Mani, which was found after churning of the sea ( samundra manthan ) by the devas and the daanavas. Lord Krishna had Vaijayantimaala, which was an extremely rare gem. There are many stories about the creation of gems in the Puranas
Classification of gems : Vanaspatik (from plant), Jaivik (from creature) and Khanij (from mines). In Vanaspatik, the main gem is Amber ; in Jaivik : Corals, Pearls etc.; and the rest of the gems fall in the Khanij category. The above mentioned are natural gems. But besides natural gems, synthetic (cultured), artificial, and imitation gems are also available.
How do gems affect our lives ? This is a very frequently asked question. The answer is very simple and logical : gems work like a regulator. The inappropriate rays from the planets are either absorbed or reflected off by the gems as per individual needs. The absorbed rays go to the sensing fluids in the brain and in the chakras and try to create a harmonious state and thus our thinking and other senses are normalized. When the mind gets balanced then we function properly and can succeed in our endeavours.
Gems have a natural power to attract you. If you are given mixed trays of natural and artificial gems of various qualities and asked to select the good gems, then, there is maximum chance that you will choose the real one of better quality from the mixed lot even if you may not be a gemologist.
Many countries have a huge business in making synthetic copies of real gems. Countries like Thailand etc., have sophisticated technology to make synthetic gems and colour lighter colour gems into darker coloured ones to earn a higher price. The lighter coloured gems are electronically treated and these colours are long lasting, but obviously astrologically, the effects cannot be the same.
Can synthetic gems replace real gems? There was discussion worldwide among astrologers as to whether synthetic gems can be used in place of real ones. The majority voted against it. Every gem represents its own planet and has the power to affect every living creature. Unlike synthetic gems, natural gems are formed in the earth and this takes thousands of years. In this process of formation, the gems have ample time to absorb the rays from the respective planets and thus they get fully charged to represent the individual planet. Synthetic gems are made in the laboratory which take some days or some months only and have no power to represent the individual planets except with respect to the colours and chemical composition.
If you test the synthetic gems in a lab, then you will get all the parameters like hardness, specific gravity, refractive index etc., almost similar to the real gems. Only an expert's visual observation and lab test parameters can reveal the authenticity of the gems to the gemmologist. The prominent signs which are found in synthetic gems are in the form of air bubbles, curve lines, unusual cleanness (absence of natural inclusions) and faceting of gems, etc.
Are you ready to cross check the power of gems? If you are lucky to have a good quality of Ruby of a bigger size, i.e. 50 carats and above, put it in a closed lotus flower. It will try to open or open up even in the absence of the Sun, because Ruby represents the Sun.
Similarly you can take a Red Coral and immerse it in blood for a night, you will see that Coral has absorbed the blood, because Mars has an affinity for blood.
Why dowsing of gems is important ? In gems, negative or positive charges are found. The process of dowsing differentiates between negative and positive energy. Negatively charged gems affect you adversely. The suitable example is that of the ill-fated diamond "Kohinoor". The dowsing must be done in an auspicious muhurta by an expert dowser who has a spiritual inclination.
Can we believe a traditional gems dealer for quality? In Kolkata, one foreigner approached a renowned gems dealer for distress sale of his expensive diamond. His story seemed very convincing and the fake diamond looked like a real one. The traditional expert's eye was cheated. The reality that it was a fake came to be known only after a lab test. It was a synthetic diamond, which was purchased for half the price of the original. There have been many jewellers who have been swindled.
This is to reinforce that a lab test is equally important to check the authenticity of the gem.
Religion and gems It is a known fact that ancient Indian idols of Gods and Goddesses are often smuggled to other countries for a huge profit. One reason is of course, their archaeological importance and the other is that many of these ancient idols have hidden gems in them. These were planted in them at the time of making them. The gems were put in the idols so that those visiting the temples would get the benefic rays of these gems while sitting, standing or prostrating in front of the idols and praying. Beside their spiritual power, gems neutralize the evil effects of malefic planets. To crosscheck this fact, you can take the examples of the idols of Lord Balaji of Tirupati and in Pune, Dagaduseth Ganpati. Whosoever visits these places always finds positive results due to the blessings of the Gods and the gems in the temple in the form of the idol's ornaments. Another example is that those who deal in gems almost always have a flourishing life and business. This is again due to the beneficial effects of the gems.
Why gems are very suitable remedies in the present time ? As we are advancing in the technological field, our life is becoming more mechanical and busy. Very few have the time to chant mantras with the proper method or concentration. Even other remedies like fasting and worshipping may not suit many people's routines. But one can certainly ( without much efforts ) wear an ornament studded with gems for personal benefits. Gems keep affecting you without your knowledge while they are constantly touching your skin.
Care and maintenance of rings and ornaments :
- Ensure that you are wearing the correct ring size. It should be neither tight nor loose. If it is loose, then there is chance of falling off. Do not wrap a thread to make the loose ring tight because doing so is not hygienic.
- From time to time, clean the ring with detergent and a brush. You can apply a little toothpaste and rub. It will shine. Thus you can improve the look of the ring and protect yourself from bacteria.
- If you are wearing natural Pearl and Fed Coral, take extra precaution and protect it from strong detergent and chemicals, otherwise the lustre of the gems will be affected.
- If you are wearing gems for astrological reasons then do not remove it frequently and never keep aside for a long duration.
General hints for buying gems : Most gems are costly and above all your time is precious especially when you are wearing gems for astrological reasons. Suppose you buy and wear synthetic or duplicate gems, it will not have any beneficial effect and you will lose your valuable time and hard earned money.
Here are some tips which may help you in buying genuine gems:
- Always buy the gems from known persons or from a very reputed dealer who stands for quality. Never buy gems in religious places or from the footpath / pavement.
- If you happen to find inclusion-free precious stones, then get it checked from a reputed lab. This kind of a clean and clear stone could be a fake.
- In business, no one does charity. Therefore, do not trust the dealer blindly and get the gem double checked and certified, especially if someone is selling the gem at a price lesser than the regular cost.
- Never purchase Basara Pearl without a test certificate. It should be in good shape and have a higher weight.
- You must be very careful in purchasing studded jewellery as you cannot know the actual colour and quality of the gems. There is a chance that some defect may be hidden below the metal. The colour of a diamond cannot be judged whilst embedded in studded jewellery.
- Avoid buying gems from a person who is selling in distress.
Avoid using the gems used by others because the bad auras absorbed from the previous owner may have an ill-effect on you.
